Greenplane is a small town in the north of the Kingdom of Nyrond.
Description
The town is located on the southern edge of the Gamboge Forest. The town gained its name as it has many buildings built of plane tree wood, which is treated with a water-repelling plant extract which stains the timber green. Greenplane is the major trading outpost for produce from the Gamboge being transported to Borneven to the south. Wood folk from the Gamboge also travel to town to buy tools, utensils, woven cloths, metal weapons and other equipment.[1]
People
The population in 585 CY was 1,200.[1] By 591 CY was 1,600.[2]
By 585 CY a few gnomes from the Flinty Hills had begun to make their way to town the southeast, avoiding Arndulanth where the Valorous League of Blindness was unfriendly to such demihumans.[1]
Government
King Lynwerd as part of his reforms of Nyrond reorganized provincial administration which commenced Needfest 1, 591 CY. The Earldom of Gamboge was created with Greenplane within its borders. The first Earl of Gamboge appointed was Larapel Klendern.[2]
Military
In Spring 585 CY the town had a garrison of 100 heavy infantry, which helped the woodfolk of the Gamboge Forest deal with bandits at the western edges.[1]
