The Sundered Empire is another name for the Dragon Empire It is a defunct realm in Western Oerik which fell nearly 1,000 years before the common era. The term is sometimes used for its sucessor state, the Empire of Ravilla.[1]
Description
The region of Western Oerik once controlled by the "Dragon Empire" eventually fell and became known as the Sundered Empire. The portion still ruled by elves is known as Ravilla and is a successor-state to the Dragon Empire. No longer truly an "empire", Ravilla now is the remaining grey elven city-states, northern wood elf enclaves, and their draconic allies.[2][3]
Ravilla is known for many things, but perhaps most notable is that elves live in harmony with dragons in the same culture.
History
"After the Demon War, Corellon Larethian tasked the gray elves with guarding the Abyssal Gateways. They sealed up their mountain cities and hid them from the world, then built new cities around the portals."[4]
Thus began the era of the Dragon Empire.
Geography
At one point, the Sundered Empire controlled all of northwestern Oerik. It reached from the eastern mountains of Western Oerik all the way to the western coast, in the region later known as "Govis", and as far south as the Blasted Desert.[1]
Government
After the Demon War and the mandate given to the elves to protect the Abyssal Gateways, the elves maintained the Empty Throne for Corellon, and ruled with a Grand Council of Oligarchs. Ravilla inherited this ruling council.
