Balaour is a small town on the banks of the [[Flanmi River]], between [[Jalpa]] and [[Torrich]]. The area is surrounded by a barren moor that is known sink holes disguised in the bog that suck men in to drown. {{csb|Ivid|28}}

Prevalent among the population is neck pendent with a hound's head motif worn by the villagers as a protective amulet.

==Rumors and legends==
The entire population of the town is always on edge is because rumors abound of the dreaded "black dog" of the western moorlands. The hound is said to be a silent, spectral creature that radiate a paralyzing chill and is capable of causing near instant death with its fetid breath and rending claws. Many disappearances have been attributed to this beast over the years. 

The origin of the hound is unclear, but the most popular theory is that the creature was manifested when a priest of Tharizdune buried a foul artifact of dark magic in the moor nearby.
