The Duchy of Korenflass is a province of the Kingdom of Nyrond.
Description
Prior to the Greyhawk Wars Duke Regurd Korenflass held Oldred as his ducal seat, and had extensive landholdings around the city and along the shores of Relmor Bay.[1]
The lands of Nyrond's south coast are not very fertile, with the soil being often chalky, brittle and somewhat stony, thus being mostly used as poor grazing land. Nearly 80% of the population live within 10 miles of the coast. Most people on the coast make their living from fishing, trading, or the support industries for the navy. Smuggling resurged after the Greyhawk Wars, and the breakdown of law and order in the area, and even slaving has occurred. Locals tend to prey on outsiders rather than their own or other Nyrondese. Few religions are favored here apart from Procan.[1] Oeridian is the dominant ethnicity for humans, but there is a stronger Suel influence in the south than elsewhere in Nyrond.[2]
King Lynwerd as part of his reforms of Nyrond reorganized provincial administration which commenced Needfest 1, 591 CY. The existing Duchy of Korenflass was made one of the provinces, with the provincial capital at Oldred.[2]
The Duchy expanded the lands of the previous Duke of Oldred.
