The Habitat is a mysterious oval spheroid located in Greyspace. It orbits the world of Oerth some 7,000 million miles away ("only" 1,000 million miles from the crystalline sphere that surrounds Oerth's planetary system). Its orbit is circular, taking 800 months to complete its journey around the Oerth, which it does at a 90 degree angle to most of the worlds of the system.

Description

The Habitat is about a mile by a half a mile in size, made of some dark blue-gray metal (the artifact in the Pits of Azak-Zil is also a bluish ellipsoid, though far, far smaller). It is covered in conical shapes of unknown purpose, each ten yards in diameter at their base and ten yards long. In between are circular windows (each five yards in diameter) from which emits light the same color as the sun.

Special features

It is seemingly impossible to get closer to the Habitat than 300 feet; vessels that attempt this find themselves moving in the opposite direction at the same speed. It's speculated that the Habitat exists within a region of warped space-time. Possibly it does not fully exist within Greyspace at all, but is some kind of projection from another universe entirely.

Those who seek to scry the Habitat magically sense a profound emptiness that risks incapacitating the mage with a severe headache. The gods themselves refuse to answer questions about the Habitat, acting edgy when it comes up in conversation. Perhaps they know as little about it as mortals do.
