Sarndt is a settlement in what was once the Great Kingdom but is now the Kingdom of Ahlissa along the road linking Nulbish and Torrich, though falling under the domain of Prince Harnnad. The town is a natural stopover point for river trade.
History
In roughly 285 CY, some noble decided that having a number of enslaved flinds to serve as troops would be a good idea, as he was hoping to use their charisma over gnolls to raise a humanoid army. That plan fell apart, but the flinds remained in the town, taking up other occupations between actually being used as troops, and their decedents have continued to live there ever since.[1]
Geography
The city is located about halfway between Nulbish and Torrich, just on the banlks of the Flanmi River, to the south of Torrich, where the river starts to turn eastward, instead of heading due south.
Cityscape
The most unusual feature in the town is the part of town where the flind population live and have a number of shops selling things like shoes, candles, pitch, tar, and other sundry goods. Their shops are open later than other shops in town for travelers who need things after hours.[1]
Demographics
There are about 90 flind living in the town, having been there for generations. Most of the people in town have come to accept their presence after long term, peaceful coexistence, as well as the flinds' lawful nature and relatively high intelligence letting them contribute to the economy. They're fully urbanized and most likely unsuited to forest life, having taken to wearing baggy shirts and pantaloons, though not shoes, and speaking in "a gutteral, half-barked form of common."[1]
