Quagmiela is an incredibly old green dragon.
Description
"Quagmiela is 702 years old (Very Old)."[1]
Appearance
Quagmiela is a typical green dragon for her age and size category.
Personality and alignment

Quagmiela has a particularly nasty temper,[2] even for a green dragon. Her distemper is caused largely by her rider.[2]
Abilities
Quagmiela is very intelligent (by human standards) with an INT 12. In second edition, green dragons had a maximum INT of 12. This has changed in editions later than 2e.
Home
"She lives deep in a tropical rainforest. She found the steamy warmth cozy and relaxing. Quagmiela has a series of caves under a swamp where she stores her treasure and pickles her food."[1]
Relationships
The evil knight Quagmiela tolerates as a rider "carries magical items that protect him from most of her special powers, including her poisonous chlorine breath. The worst of it is that he tricked her into drinking a long-term poison. If she does not get regular doses of antidote from him, she will die. Though Quagmiela hates her master, she is forced to serve him."[2]
Allies and minions
"Three shambling mounds serve her as slaves."[1]
History
Publishing history
The first appearance of this character, with the name "Quagmiela" attached to her was in 1991, for the TSR Trading Cards line (card #304). Later, in 1994, she would appear again on Spellfire CCG card #177, and would have lore for presented in the Spellfire Reference Guide.
Artwork
As was common at the time, abilities and characteristics were given on some cards for characters which already existed which hadn't ever had stats before. The difficulty came in the fact that some art was used from the TSR archive which did not necessarily represent the characters from the art, but rather a generic character who might look like those in the artwork.
The difficulty comes in the fact that the green dragon and rider in this artwork were very, very minor NPCs presented in Artifact of Evil, by Gary Gygax. In that novel, a green rider and dragon appear as opponents of Gord the Rogue and his adventuring party, sent to delay or stop them. The scene is depicted on the cover of the book, but the NPCs are not named and never appear again. So, it is unclear whether the card gives a name to an existing NPC or simply uses the art to depict a green dragon and her rider. However, Quagmiela's home being referred to as a "tropical" rainforest[2] (rather than a temperate one) tends to indicate that it is not the same dragon, because while the dragon depicted in Artifact of Evil also resides in a cave, it is in the vicinity of the southern Welkwood[3] which is not tropical.
