Mowbrenn is a walled city in the Kingdom of Nyrond.
Geography
Mowbrenn is a walled city located on the main trade route north from Rel Mord, running to both Curtulenn (and onto Urnst) and Hendrenn Halgood (and onto the Theocracy of the Pale). It is located in the lands between the Franz River and Duntide River, which is a fertile area of Nyrond with much grain-growing and cloth-weaving outside the cities.[1]
History
The population suffered under a heavy tax burden after the Greyhawk Wars, located close to Rel Mord and the king's local bailiffs. Some have fled west into the County of Urnst. Mowbrenn suffered under the harsh and repressive rule of Count Blackmar Huldane, and his "sage" adviser Quarlanth. The Count extracted heavy taxes using his brutal militia. Mowbrenn became a city with its secret places and undercity hiding dark cults, with inhabitants disappearing in the night and most in despair. Some fled to Barren Keep with the Count's son, Cunal Huldane, who opposed his father and King Archbold III. Archbold did not pay attention to rumors of Blackmar's behaviour, as taxes were paid and due to Blackmar's reputation as a war hero.[1]
As part of the administrative reforms by King Lynwerd in 590 CY, Mowbrenn was made the provincial capital of the County of Mowbrenn under Count Cunal Huldane who replaced his father.[2].
