Grayflood Keeps is a series of defensive fortifications in what used to be the South Province of the former Great Kingdom, which is now in the Kingdom of Ahlissa

Description

The Grayflood Keeps are a series of three solid stone keeps built along the Greyflood River to protect the southern part of the Great Kingdom from things like bandits from Glorioles, Rieuwood, and Hollow Highlands, army deserters and Sunndi raiders. There were also several dangerous magical beasts in the area, one of which was a manticore with poisonous spines and a fringe of venomous snakes around the crown of its head, with said head mounted on the wall of westernmost keep as a trophy.

History

The Keeps were commissioned by Graf Reydrich during the tail end of the Greyhawk Wars. The keeps were constructed by slave labor and convicts and since speed was of the essence, several mages were brought in to cast Levitate and Tenser's Floating Disk spells to help the construction along. Most of those wizards were apprentice tier former mercenaries, having fled the wrath of their masters for whatever reason (Many of them with stolen spellbooks). Two more keeps were planned by never got built due to the break-up of the Great Kingdom.

Geography

The keeps were built along the Grayflood River, just to the east of Hexpools and west of Kalstrand, on the Ahlissan Plains.
