The Duntide River is a slow, broad water that flows through Nyrond from the Flinty Hills west across the realm to the Gnatmarsh, where at the southern reaches it merges with the Nesser River that then flows into Relmor Bay. It is navigable for most of its length, apart from its first fifty or so miles from the Flinty Hills to Womtham.[1][note 1]
The Duntide river provides fertility to the lands near it, and in southern coast lands of Nyrond the soil is otherwise not very fertile being often chalky, brittle and somewhat stony so that much of it is used as poor grazing land.[2]
