The Western Flanaess Trading Company was created in 596 CY by Lord Regent Ellis Lorinar. He decided, for the first time ever, to grant a merchant charter to a company of people who could seek out these new markets for the benefit of the duchy, particularly with the Sultanate of Zeif. He appointed some trusted nobles to sit on the board of the company including adventurers to help manage the company in the West. The company also has a need for explorers to further its interests in distant lands, guards to protect its trade caravans, and merchants both abroad and at home to buy and sell its goods.[1]

- The company’s Explorers are the leading edge of its push into the Western Flanaess. Their job is to seek out new markets and opportunities for the company.[6]
- Company Guard
- The company’s guards protect the merchants and goods of the WFTC on trade routes between the Duchy of Urnst and the Sultanate of Zeif. They may also undertake independent guarding or message delivery tasks. All guards must swear an oath of fealty to the company and Lord Regent Ellis Lorinar.[6]
- Company Merchant
- Company Merchants work exclusively for the WFTC, trading in unfamiliar and potentially dangerous territories. While riskier than a typical House Merchant role in the Duchy of Urnst, the position offers greater profit. Their safety is supported by company Explorers and Guards.[6]
- Company Representative
- Company Trade Representatives advocate for the WFTC’s interests abroad, primarily in the Sultanate of Zeif as well as Ekbir, Ket and Tusmit, where they seek new trading partners and establish trade routes.[7]

Company Ship Masters
After the failed maiden voyage of the Golden Venture due to sabotage and inadequate escorts, the Company Board abandoned plans to build its own fleet. Instead, they sought out independent ship owners for cargo transport and armed escorts. Quarterly convoys operate between Leukish and Dyvers, with additional routes down the Tuflik and past the pirate-infested Bahhoury Coast. Ship Masters have full autonomy outside of these scheduled convoys.[2][4]
