Rumors and legends

In Erik Mona's Living Greyhawk Gazetteer: Missing Excerpts of the Ancient History of the Oerth, he says the Hand of Vecna, Eye of Vecna, and Sword of Kas were uncovered "as indentured Flan dug the foundations of the city of Shiboleth [...] rest[ing] upon the floor of the Rushmoors.[5][note 1]

Publication history

The city's location on the Schley map in the Dungeon Master's Guide (2024) is labelled differently than in previous material. The location is labelled "Frogholme",[6] indicating it being renamed. It is presumed this is due to the real-world definition of the word shiboleth—"any custom or tradition, usually a choice of phrasing or single word, that distinguishes one group of people from another. ... used as ... ways of maintaining traditional segregation"[7] to exclude outsiders.[8]
