Sete Roughriders is a calvary organization based out of Sete in the Duchy of Urnst.[1][2][3]
Description
The Sete Roughriders are a group of lightly armored warriors who specialize in horsemanship and mounted combat. They patrol the southern part of the Duchy of Urnstt and combat the marauding bandits and humanoids that thrive in the Abbor-Alz Hills and even venture into the fringes of the Bright Desert to watch for the return of Rary the Traitor.
The Sete Roughriders operate independently of the Ducal Guard, with mutual contempt between the two groups—Roughriders call Guardsmen “clod hoppers,” while Guardsmen call them “horse wives.” Though bar-clearing brawls occasionally occur, both groups fight effectively together when the Duchy is threatened, as seen in the Battle of Tolann.
Roughriders are known for their rowdy behavior, coarse language, and fondness for alehouses, gambling dens, and houses of ill-repute during off-duty hours. Patrol Leaders tolerate this as long as it doesn’t interfere with duties but will discipline those who take it too far.[3]

Patroller
The Patrollers of the Sete Roughriders are typically unruly and undisciplined during peacetime. They often neglect personal hygiene, disregard orders, or follow them with little enthusiasm. However, in times of conflict, they unite and function as a remarkably cohesive and effective unit.
Patrol leader
Patrol Leaders tend to have a close, informal bond with their Patrollers, often acting more like brothers than commanding officers. Though they technically hold responsibility for their squad’s lives, their leadership inspires extraordinary efforts when it truly matters. They oversee the Roughriders' daily operations, such as rural patrols and occasional law enforcement duties.
Master of the Horse
A Sete Roughrider Master of Horse is a horseman of exceptional skill, commanding deep respect and admiration. Unlike the fraternal bond Patrol Leaders share with their squads, Masters of Horse are seen as awe-inspiring figures. They often undertake solo scouting and infiltration missions and lead large groups of Roughriders in battle.
Structure
The Roughriders are led by Lord Furel Grek and his lieutenant Lady Ondreh Nelaera. They are funded largely by House Grek, with supplemental income and supplies provided by taxing local villages and noble estates (with the blessing of the Duke and Honorable Chamber)
