General information
Type:Temple
Location:Garden Quarter, City of Greyhawk

Temple of the Far Horizon, also called the Chapel of Fharlanghn (G13)[1][2] is a place of worship in the Garden Quarter in the Free City of Greyhawk.[3]

Description

"Hidden among the city’s grander temples is a quiet, modest house of worship with clay-tiled rooftops, a corner bell tower, and well-tended vegetable gardens. Sick and hungry folk gather in short lines outside as they wait for priests to attend to their needs."[4]

"This quiet temple is set back from Temple Row, surrounded by its own gardens and the Upper Wall."[3]

Interior

Atmosphere

The "temple is plain, with little ornamentation, but a cheery fire always bums at the hearth, and a hot meal for a hungry traveler is never more than a few minutes away."[3]

Services

"The priests of [Fharlanghn] work quietly here, primarily offering rest and nourishment, as well as healing, for those travelers with no homes in the Free City. Several small cells are maintained for these guests.

The priests also perform missionary work in the Old City, tending to the sick and hungry."[3]

People

"The priest in charge and the entire staff are rotated in staggered shifts to other shrines and temples across the Flanaess, rarely staying in Greyhawk more than a year. The average priest in charge is a human or demihuman of [up to eigth level], with [up to twelve] lesser priests."[5]

Notable individuals

  • Adari Farwander (N male gnome cleric 7)[6][7][8]—sage and cartographer

Resources

"Little of value is kept here except good food and drink, maps, and valuable oral lore about conditions across the Flanaess."[5]

Publishing history

The art for the location was first previewed from the DMG 2024, on 1 October 2024, on the Baerald map, when information was first being released about the new core rulebooks.[9]

In Beadle & Grimm's Premium Map Collection, the DM's screen has brief blurbs about some locations within the city.[10]
