The Walker is an extraordinary individual and his purpose in Medegia remains unknown. He is considered to be one of of Johydee's Children, and has been in traveling through Medegia for as long as anyone can remember, and probably much longer than that. Those casting detect magic can see a faint trail of abjuration and alteration magic left behind in his wake [1].
Description
Appearance
The Walker looks like a young man of 15 or 16, though close examination reveals fine lines around his eyes. Though his form does tend to shift, the two notable features that don't are the sack on a stick that he carries with his that is filled with magical baubles, and the small dog who is always at his side.[2]
Personality
Though The Walker shuns human company, he is unfailingly polite to those he meets on the road, though he speaks truly little, and mostly in riddles[2]. He is always in good humor, and never gets angry, or gives offense, even when attacked or insulted[1]
Abilities
The Walker "cannot be effectively attacked by any magical or mundane means."[1] Any weapon swung at him transforms into something harmless, he can dispel any magical attack as with dispel magic with nothing more than "a wave of the hand", and he often will simply vanish to avoid attacks[1].
The Walker travels at average speed, but can cross any terrain with penalty and never tires. He can also walk on water, though his canine companion cannot, and must be carried across.[1].
Home
The Walker doesn't have a home, as such. He wanders, though he almost exclusively travels in Medegia.
History
In a sudden change in 585 CY, the faint magical auras left behind The Walker have been observed forming a previously unknown, deliberate pattern—a spider's web centered on Mentrey.[1]
Another oddity is that along the nexus points of the pattern, 12' smooth stone monoliths have appeared. They radiate a similar magical energy to his trail, though slightly stronger. Like The Walker himself, they are completely impervious to physical or magical damage. Their purpose is unknown, though it may reflect some development in the psyche of The Walker, or in Medegia itself. [1].
Rumors and legends
Oeridian tales of his existence go back to before the Great Kingdom[2] (before -110 CY). There are some who say he's an aspect of Fharlanghn though most agree that is only partial truth at best[2].
