The Elemental Plane of Air is an endless expanse of blue sky interrupted by the occasional clouds and floating islands. It is one of the Inner Planes.

The plane's gravity is subjective, decided upon by each individual. Movement is accomplished by falling or flying.

Structure

The Elemental Plane of Air touches the border Ethereal Plane at all points. Toward the Positive Energy Plane it becomes the Quasielemental Plane of Lightning and toward the Negative Energy Plane it becomes the Quasielemental Plane of Vacuum. Toward the Elemental Plane of Fire it becomes the Paraelemental Plane of Smoke and toward the Elemental Plane of Water it becomes the Paraelemental Plane of Ice. Vortices spiral through the Ethereal Plane to connect the Plane of Air with the skies of the Material Plane; these tend to drift about in the wind on both ends, so they can be hard to find, much less catch up with. Vortices to Elemental Air can also manifest in the heart of tornadoes or whirlwinds.

A portal to the Plane of Air is said to touch the highest branch of the World Ash, Yggdrasil. There are twin portals to the Plane of Air in the Olympian slopes of Arborea, but both portals, located miles apart, must be opened simultaneously for them to work. There is a portal to Elemental Air on Mount Celestia, deep in the ziggurat of Jovar, and Bahamut can command his palace to shift into the Elemental Plane of air at will.
