The Brazen Horde was a nation of nomads originally from beyond the nation of Mur[1] in the Baklunish Basin, in the southern part of the land of Komal.

History

Long at odds with the Komali, the Brazen Horde was incited by the Sultanate of Zeif to migrate south of their territory in order to challenge and contain the warlike Ulakandar. The Brazen Horde proved to be even more able and more warlike than the Ulakandar were, and soon had conquered the southern Baklunish lands (with support from Zeif), driving other tribes northward, like the Wolf and Tiger Nomads who were part of the Relentless Horde.

Then, the Brazen Horde began attacking Ull, Tusmit and Ket. The Tusmites, with Ekbir's aid, repelled the nomads, and Ull managed to hold on to its territory. However, Ket was conquered and remained under the control of the Brazen Horde for several decades, raiding Veluna from time to time.[2]

They were eventually driven out by forces dispatched from Keoland, including the newly-formed Knights of the Watch and mercenary companies from the Quaglands.[2] The leadership of the Brazen Horde fragmented at that point and they continued to war with the Ulakandar for the next 200 years, until the Mahdi of the Steppes began his attempt to unite the quarrelsome nomads and dervishes.[3]
