Oakenisle is an island in the Solnor Ocean, on the Eastern edge of the Flanaess.
Description
Oaken Isle is the eastern most of the islands of the Sea Barons, and is generally the least populated and developed of all the islands, with only one city of any size, Oakenheart. Slavery is outlawed on the island, despite being legal in the greater Sea Barons.
Geography
The Island is full of exceptionally dense vegetation, which inhibits full movement (counts as difficult terrain, wherein creatures are at half movement). The forests contain not only ancient oaks, after which the island is named, but also hard-barked dwarf figs and thorny palm trees, along with succulents and scrub brushes[1]. The island is home to many creatures, including lizards and small snakes, rodents, fruit eating birds and numerous insects.
The eastern half of the Island has heavier rainfall, and almost constantly shrouded in mist during the spring and fall. It is home to giant dragonflies. [1]
Threats
The island is home to sahuagin and other monsters, which prowl the coast and cause problems. To deal with this, Baron Jazmeen has issued a bounty of 50 GP per sahuagin head, but the creatures have been making inroads none-the-less[1]
Rumors and legends
There are said to be numerous ruins scattered around the island's rocky and vine-encrusted lands, and rumors about, but not many bother to investigate. One of the few who has so far is Karistyne, a paladin of The Cairn Hills, who has gone incognito on multiple trips to raid these ruins, and refuses to reveal what she found.
