Ferrond (also seen as "Old Ferrond" or "Western Nyr Dyv") is a place from an older era. It does not exist as a contemporary nation in 576 CY and forward. It is a historical term reffering to a region where the successor states of the Viceroyalty of Ferrond now lie; it was a former province of the western reaches of the Great Kingdom. It is a shorthand way of saying "the old area which now includes different modern nations, but used to be called "Ferrond".
History
Ferrond was prominent in the second century CY and early third century CY. The nation remained from c.100 CY to 254 CY, but with the death of Viceroy Stinvri, nobles "installed Stinvri’s heir as Thrommel I, king of Furyondy."[1]
Geography
Old Ferrod was spread "from the Clatspur Mountains to the Nyr Dyv, from the Lortmils in the south to the far shores of Whyestil Lake, and beyond, in the north."[2]
Government
The Viceroyalty of Ferrond was a vassal state of the Great Kingdom of Aerdy, ruled by a viceroy in the name of the Overking. The capitol of the Viceroyalty was the city of Dyvers, [3] which is now its own city-state.
Administrative Divisions
The Viceroyalty of Ferrond consisted of the modern-day states of Furyondy (Furyon), Highfolk, Perrenland (the Quaglands), the Shield Lands, Veluna (Voll), and the hilly regions northeast of the Vesve Forest, known then as part of the Northern Reaches.

"Old Ferrond" is used as a region in the Legends of Greyhawk campaign by one of the Premier Organizers, Baldman Games, as the name of one of the regions they administer for the campaign. For LoG puposes, the region includes Veluna, Furyondy, and Verbobonc. Highfolk is a separate region, used primarily for monthly online "Vitrual D&D Weekend" (VDDW) events. Perrenland and the Shield Lands are only used for story elements, rather than as organizational areas.
