Suloise Dating has the privilege of being the oldest calendar commonly used in World of Greyhawk products. It is rare for events to be dated earlier than 1 SD or -5515 CY.
The significance of year 1 SD is not stated in any official source. However, Roger Moore's "Legacies of the Suel Imperium", Dragon #241 (Nov 1997) p.47, gives us some clues as to its meaning. In that article, skulks were used in the Eight-House War around 1100 SD, and were created during the second millennium of the Suel Imperium (i.e. 1001 to 2000 years after its founding). This makes it plausible that 1 SD refers to the founding of the Suel Imperium, as it would mean that the Eight-House War indeed takes place within the second millennium.
Technically, this definition allows the founding of the Suel Imperium to have taken place as early as -900 SD (-6415 CY) or as late as 100 SD (-5416 CY) and still have the year 1100 SD take place within the Suel Imperium's second millennium. Whether coincidentally or intended, this lines up with an article in Oerth Journal #1 (May 1995) which records the history of the Suel as far back as -900 SD. It places 1 SD as being when "use of genii to empower the Se-ul is considered the beginning of the Times of the Se-ul".
While the Oerth Journal is an unofficial fan publication, the article's authorship by Len Lakofka has given it some sway among some traditionalist Greyhawk fans and writers.
