Bar Strannach is small town on the dirawaen road between Rel Deven and Jalpa, known for housing 100 of Prince Farland's best light cavalry that protect the road, along with a number of troops from Rel Deven with whom they have a decent working relationship.

History

In 172 CY a fomorian giant attacked the town and slew half the occupants. The giant brought with it a book, which is entitled the Lays of Bar Strannach. The book and the spine and skull of said giant are still housed in the local shrine to Baccob. [2]

Geography

The town is situated along the road between Rel Devon and Torrich, and is actually almost exactly halfway between the two towns, making it a convenient stop over point for those traveling between the two, and the natural point for the defenses of the road to switch from being the responsibility of Rel Devon to being the responsibility of Prince Farland of Jalpa.

Rumors and legends

The Giant who attacked the town was said to have spoken prophecies about the future of the Great Kingdom during his rampage. The book he left behind has been interpreted as detailing the rise of House Naelax in its riddles, which seem to be prophecy, and many great minds visit the town to consult it, including King Xavener and the great wizards Mordenkainen and Philidor, though the riddles are extremely opaque.
