The Reeks is a military fort located on the Nesser River, on the western boundary of the Kingdom of Nyrond..
Description
The Reeks is a wooden stockade fort located on the eastern side of the Nesser River. It is essentially the westernmost settlement of Nyrond in the area. The fort as built can house 60 militia, who undertook river patrols 30 miles south into the Gnatmarsh.[1]
By Spring 585 CY there were less than 25 militia left garrisoning the fort. The remainder had defected or been overcome by monsters or disease. Patrol vessels had been broken up for firewood, leaving one serviceable vessel. The militia had been forgotten and unpaid for almost a year, leaving them to forage from the nearby marsh and forest. Messengers to Beetu never arrived morale was desperately bad. [1]
Following the reorganization of provincial administration under King Lynwerd I that commenced Needfest 1, 591 CY[2] The Reeks was part of the County of Brackenmoor.[3]
