Dane was a magic-user who lived shortly after the Rain of Colorless Fire. He was an apprentice of the famed Suel sorcerer and mapmaker Madd.
History
Madd managed to escape the Rain of Colorless Fire with eight of the maps, settling in a city whose name is no longer remembered. Madd led a peaceful life, teaching and experimenting with magic. Shortly before his death he created a ninth map. When he died, he left his works to his apprentice Dane.
Dane went into seclusion after his master's death, concentrating on improving the magical maps that were his inheritance. He managed to create duplicates of all nine maps, as well as additional maps that were combinations of the nine. He refused to sell his maps to others, and disappeared mysteriously. Copies of his maps have appeared in the millennium since, many of them in the Free City of Greyhawk.
