Lord Khayven of Rax is a human death knight, one of the fourteen originals who betrayed their fellow Knight Protectors of the Great Kingdom.

Description

In life, Lord Khayven was tall, with flowing black hair, a proud nose, and a fierce demeanor. Now his leathery face appears to be horribly burnt and his empty eyesockets glow with hellish green light. Steam emerges from his ruined mouth as he talks. His lips, teeth, and tongue are burnt black. He wears ornate armor in the style of the Great Kingdom some 300 years ago, and a fine, if tattered, fur cloak. His voice is deep and booming.

History

Khayven was one of the thirteen Knight Protectors of the Great Kingdom who joined with Sir Kargoth and was transformed by Demogorgon into death knights.

More recently, Khayven was in the employ of Prince Reydrich of Ahlissa. He left Reydrich's service to seek to find a way to become mortal again. His attempt to destroy the Bilious Orb that created him ended in failure, so instead he seeks ancient sites sacred to Demogorgon, including the Lost Temple of Demogorgon in the Iron Hills, where he has allied himself with ancient troglodyte priests of the demon lord in the hope they can reverse his curse.
