Rakehell Chert is a powerful rogue, fond of danger and daring due to an extensive inferiority complex.
Description
Rakehell is a middle-aged man with a pencil mustache, sometimes seen wearing a stylish beret. He is roughly 5'7", with short, curly brown hair. He carries the shortsword Omarannin, the Laughing Blade, which forces its victims to suffer the effects of Tasha's Hideous Laughter. He wears elaborate disguises to protect himself form Scarlet Brotherhood assassins.
Relationships
Rakehell is tremendously attracted to Rowena of the Silverbrow, but dislikes Agath of Thrunch and Reynard Yargrove. He is a worshiper of Olidammara. Rakehell is an ally of the Splintered Mind, using his resources to help protect their secrecy.
Some of Onnwal's nobles resent the fact that a mere thief has been given so much power.
History
Rakehell was raised in Hexpools and rose to high level in South Province, the Iron Hills, and nearby regions. On the run from the church of Zilchus, he moved to Scant in 562 CY. There he became master of the Wreckers, the local thieves guild.
He was among the adventuring party including Agath of Thrunch, Lord Franz Torkeep, Reynard Yargrove, Rowena of the Silverbrow, and Warnes Starcoat who rescued the Crook of Rao from the Isle of the Ape.
After the capture of Onnwal by the Scarlet Brotherhood, Jian Destron gave Chert command of the Free Onnwal Army of Rebellion, an army of ex-thief guerrillas dedicated to freeing that enslaved land. Since then, he has led his forces to quite a few victories against the Brotherhood.
