House Lizhal is a minor Suloise noble family who migrated to what is now Keoland following the Twin Cataclysms.

Though not as powerful as the major Keoish noble houses of House Rhola and House Neheli, Lizhal is best known as the family of King Kimbertos Skotti. The King's former domain, the Barony of Grayhill in the Dreadwood, is held by House Lizhal. The current Baron of Grayhill is Markos Skotti, brother to the King.[1]

Unlike the Rhola and Neheli, who are primarily Suloise in descent, House Lizhal is heavily intermarried with Oeridian and elven bloodlines.[1]

History

Establishment of the Barony of Grayhill

In 5069 SD (-447 CY), several Suel noble houses fled eastward into the Flanaess during the Baklunish-Suloise Wars. Among the noble houses who settled in what would later become the kingdom of Keoland were the noble houses Neheli, Rhola, Malhel, and Lizhal.

House Malhel headed for the Dreadwood, a forest inhabited by elves and various monsters in what is now southern Keoland. The entire house was ultimately consumed by its own evil after attempting to summon powers of the earth in an ill-fated plot to resurrect the Suel Imperium.[2]

Some nine centuries ago, House Lizhal entered the Dreadwood, sending emissaries to the village of Grayhill to establish peaceful relations with the elves. The meeting was a success, and the humans and elves made peaceful contact that night which has continued ever since.[1]

Holdings

The tall fortress keep of Dourstone is the seat of House Lizhal. It is the capital of the Barony of Grayhill, located a few miles from the village of Grayhill. Dourstone is one of the few human fortifications in the Dreadwood.[1]

Notable members

King Kimbertos Skotti of Keoland is from the House of Lizhal, the first of that family to claim the Keoish crown since the kingdom's founding nearly a thousand years ago. His brother, Markos Skotti, currently Baron of Grayhill, is also a member, as is his cousin Richard Jorgos, Viscount of Nume Eor.[1]
