Emasstus Carcosa was the Patriarch/Sage of Pholtus in the city of Rauxes circa 576-77. He was deposed and ordered arrested for treason by Overking Ivid V for speaking out publicly about the Overking's tyranny and trafficking with devils and for calling for an open rebellion to Ivid's rule, even going so far as to reach out to the church of Saint Cuthbert with which the Pholtan Church has had a long-standing antipathy. Carcosa further elaborated on the plots of Xaene, Ivid's court mage and the one suspected of summoning the devils who propped up Ivid's throne.
Carcosa managed to flee from the troops sent to arrest him, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
Creative origins
Carcosa was first mentioned in "The Great Kingdom and the Knights of Doom" by Robert J. Kuntz in Dragon issue 59 from March, 1982. In this article, Ivid V is consistently named "Irvid" with no dynastic number.
