Wikipedia Good Articles
Hey there. :) Just wanted to update you. White Plume Mountain has just been made a GA, joining Dwellers of the Forbidden City and Tomb of Horrors. :) Plus, we've still got a few in the cooker... We've found that modules are (relatively speaking) way easier than anything else to move ahead, so we're going to try to get as many of the major ones as possible promoted. Greyhawk's article on Wikipedia
Hello,
We are considering what to do to make Greyhawk into a "Good Article". Please discuss here if you like, or just check out the article itself and see what you can do. :) Note that since my last message, Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, and White Plume Mountain are also now GA's. I uploaded two different crops of the image, one that shows him full-body and one that shows his face and sword in somewhat better resolution. I'm not sure which is more appropriate. -- Rip 18:22, 3 March 2009 (EST)
Drow
Hey there. :) In my quest to get more Wikipedia articles up to "Good Article" status, I've gotten ambitious and decided to take on the Drow article. Yeah, call me crazy, but I'm going to do it. :) I've put a bunch of work into the AD&D 1st edition section, using the sources I had on hand (don't have Q1 so did what I could), though I probably went overboard and will need to trim back a bit. I'm going to start on the 2nd edition section soon, but I would appreciate any help you or anyone you know can give towards building up the publication history properly, finding sources, checking for inaccuracies and completeness, etc. I'd especially need help in bulking up the novels section, as I don't have any of these. Any help you can give, even as a cheering section, would be appreciated. :) BOZ 22:57, 4 April 2009 (EDT)
Have you settled on a final name for this wiki yet?
Hi,
You still have a mixture of "GH Wiki" and "The Great Library of Greyhawk". Have you and the other editors of this wiki settled on a final name for this wiki yet?
If you have then someone needs to go around and remove the "incorrect name", so that you just have one name for this wiki.
I wanted to creat a page for your wiki on WikiIndex, but there is no point in me doing that while you don't have the name sorted out. I don't want to create a page that is going to work against your "corporate identity".
Once you have that sorted out, it would be nice to see your wiki dropped into the Dungeons & Dragons category of WikiIndex, as that is rather empty at the moment.

- Thanks for your speedy reply. The text "Ghwiki" appears in the <title> tag of the HTML that this wiki is generating. So it is showing up in the top of the user's browser on every page. I think an admin is going to need to fix that sort of thing. (Hopefully "The Great Library of Greyhawk" is not too long to fit up there. I suspect it is and that you might need to drop the word "The" from the start of the name.) Big Mac 10:30, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
- Thanks for the heads up on who can fix this. Would you be able to get in touch with Gary Holian, and pass on my suggestion to fix the title that the wiki is sending out?
- BTW: I'm going to put up a basic page over at WikiIndex with the name "The Great Library of Greyhawk". It is a wiki, so feel free to edit the blurb and improve it. Big Mac 10:39, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
- EDIT: The page is up: See 'The Great Library of Greyhawk' at WikiIndex. I still need the logo. Big Mac 11:03, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
- Thanks for the information about who made the logo. I've posted a request for help on Saracenus's user page. As he (and not the wiki) owns the logo, I guess it is up to him now. Big Mac 11:36, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
Dave Arneson
Hey there, did you hear about Dave Arneson? Please help me keep an eye on that article if you can, for reasons I stated on the talk page. BOZ 08:45, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

Just Learning
Hello I hope that I can help my doing just some grunt work of copying and pasting stuff to expand what is already becoming a great site. I am having trouble creating a link for the city of Zeif. If anyone could tell what I am doing wrong I would be very greatful.
Is what I am doing worth while to this project?
User:LordTshil 6/5/2009
- I'm not sure what your issue is with the city of Zeif link. Without actually knowing the problem, I can only throw out random advice that possibly does not apply to you. Do you known the wiki-code for adding links? Do you have the capitalisation correct? Are you aware that City of Zeif, City Of Zeif and city of zeif all point to different places? Maybe you could say what article you are having the problem in, so that someone else can surf over there and see what the issue is.
- Looks like some of the grunt work you are doing is the creation of 'stub' articles. I've seen other wikis, where they have a stub category and a stub template (or stub-section template) that automatically adds 'unfinished' articles into the stub category. But I can't find a similar category (or template) over here.
- I think the main reason for a stub category, is that your helpful work pulls these article names out of Special:Wantedpages, but does not leave other editors with a clue that the page is still mostly empty. So when another editor comes along to help, they don't get a 'red flag' on the names of the articles that you have created. Essentially, you face the risk that the wiki eventually has a small percentage of 'mostly empty' articles and future editors struggle to find out where they are. But adding Category:Stubs would create a list of articles (on the category page) that are known to need further attention. And that means that others can build on your good work (instead of having to hunt for it).
- Done!--Robbastard 20:18, 23 June 2009 (EDT)
- BTW: You are not doing anything wrong here. I think that the stub issue has just been overlooked.
- Forgotten Realms Wiki calls this Category:Stubs (with an 's' on the end), so it looks like someone would have to choose between singular and plural. FR Wiki have 1,640 articles tagged as stubs, so it looks like they have an organised program of 'grunt work'.
- I'm not sure if The Great Library of Greyhawk wants to go down the same route as Forgotten Realms Wiki, but I think there are big advantages to going that way. Essentially, someone doing grunt-work, like you, can 'stub' as you create barebones pages and other editors can 'de-stub' (i.e. remove the stub-category) after they fill them out with more meaningful content.
- Not everyone can create fully detailed articles from scratch and I think there is an important role for editors like you. Big Mac 07:51, 23 June 2009 (EDT)
- The proper name of the city of Zeif is Zeir-i-Zeif, according to the Living Greyhawk Journal #5.-- Rip 19:40, 23 June 2009 (EDT)
And yes, I think creating blank templates for the various cities is useful. It makes writing the articles much easier. -- Rip 19:41, 23 June 2009 (EDT)

Infoboxes and Images
I think the larger 250 pixel image looks a little much for the module, actually, but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it. On the other hand, some of the 200 pixel images are too small for detail to be seen. If you want to change all or future infobox images I wouldn't mind. -- Rip 18:27, 22 July 2009 (EDT)
Worth reading
At least this time, the latest Gavin drama doesn't involve us in any way, and it's good for other people to see him as the troll he really is. Maybe he'll finally get himself blocked for his BS incivility for a change, instead of just another slap on the wrist.

New resource found for Sea of Dust article
Hi, I'm contacting you because you are one of the two people who has edited the Sea of Dust article. I just found a new source of information for the Sea of Dust. I've added it to the Bibliography section and added some background information to the article's talk page. Please can you check it out and see if anything needs to be updated. Thanks. Big Mac 19:01, 2 August 2009 (EDT)
- Please also check Twisted Forest (mentioned in the same AOL resource). I've stuck the same blurb on the talk page, but you won't need to read it again. It is there in case a drive-by editor comes past before you see this. Big Mac 19:26, 2 August 2009 (EDT)
- Add Burning Cliffs and Rigodruok to this request. Big Mac 19:37, 2 August 2009 (EDT)
Spam attack in progress!
Spammers are currently in the progress of setting up a number of fake user pages (with names including the spam information). They don't seem to actually be attacking any articles at the moment - just setting up their user pages. So far I see 15 spam user accounts.
You will find them all in the recent changes list. I'm currenlty going to all of the pages and removing their spam content. However, I am not able to block their IPs or delete the user accounts. Please can you bump this up the ladder ASAP.
I think that your account registration system might need a bit of an update, as it seems like some spambot has worked out how to bypass your current protection. Big Mac 17:29, 16 August 2009 (EDT)
A well-done article!
Check out the Greyhawk deities article at Wikipedia. Very well done and well researched!
Also, you have a message waiting for you there on your talk page. ;) BOZ 23:30, 22 August 2009 (EDT)
Re Astra
I understand what you're saying, however, I didn't start the page. It consisted of a single sentence when I found it. Meaning, I don't know how to do what you're asking of me. I'm not all that "computer literate" and I'm just "feeling my way." Most of what I've done with Rel Astra, I've done for the first time. You'll have to "talk me through it." Sorry
Rel Astra
If I can, I will. Interestingly, I only started the project so that I could "link" yet another "orphaned" page -- changecat. I'm trying to do a little bit of everything! This is great stuff -- but man, does it take time! My hat's really off to you. Look for me to do all that I can -- this is great!
Oh -- How's my work?
