Ahmut's Legion is a faction of of death cultists and undead in Western Oerik who vied for the Panoply of Stratis in the late 6th Century CY in hopes of a member of the faction becoming the next God of War.

Description

The Legion is primarily a horde of unholy undead terrors, controlled and led by death priests. There is a small number of mortal, living cultists, as well.

The ultimate leader is Ahmut, who was an ancient warlord amongst the Baklien nomadic people in the far West three centuries before the Godwar began.

History

Ahmut attacked the Empire of Ravilla repeatedly in the late 3rd Century CY. The Oligarchs of Ravilla had tried other attempts at assassination, but when they sent the professional assassin known as Prisca the attempt finally succeeded. She sliced his throat in his sleep and he died with a magical dagger in his heart, which held onto his soul in a fragment of the blade, not allowing him to be raised or resurrected, or moving on to a final repose in the Outer Planes.

When Stratis cast his panoply across the world, his spear pierced the grave of the ancient warlord, and brought his body back in a powerful undead form. He quickly subjugated the Cult of the Red Scythe and took control of the faction.

Heraldry

At right is the symbol used in the Chainmail Miniatures Game to represent Ahmut's Legion. It is presumed that it is used in-character, as well.

People

The cultists who control most of the faction are shadow priests and necromancers. Many of peoples overrun by Ahmut's Legion become mindless slaves in his army. Some of them include: Dwarves, Troglodytes, Gnolls, Orcs, Trolls, and Minotaurs. There are also some limited numbers of minotaurs who've converted to the worship of Nerull, and are "crazed cultists". The skeletal remains of members of the ancient "Old Race" of Equicephs also populate the Legion.

Religion

The chief faith of Ahmut's Legion is the worship of Nerull led by the Cult of the Red Scythe.
