Description
The Oytwood is a smallish woodland within the borders of Geoff.[1]
This beautiful woodland isn’t as foreboding as the Dim Forest—indeed, its tall trees blanket the ground in verdant foliage. Its connections with Faerie give it an eerie, dreamlike splendor.
History
During the giant's invasion of Geoff in 584 CY the Olvenfolk was forced to retreat into their hidden halls. Preston got captured and suffered much destruction, its population of high elves, half-elves and humans was forced to flee either to Hochoch or deep into the forest.
With no help from beyond the wood, the Olvenfolk began a guerilla war against the invaders and regained control over the forest by 588 CY, but several of the giants still roam the forest.
The cordial relations with the humans of Geoff and the wood elves of Dim Forest have cooled considerably, as none of their allies was able to assist their struggles.
Geography
Separated from the bigger Dim Forest by Midwood Vale, its northern edge follows the Javan River while its southern part covers the northern part of the Stark Mounds.
People
This woodland boasts a rather sizable population of high elves who have migrated to Oerth from Faerie and built halls under the forested hills of the southern Oytwood. The elves of Oytwood distrust individuals showing psionic powers, they are are often cast out of elven society.[2]
The only settlement known to outsiders is Preston, a small outpost at the confluence of Javan River and Realstream.
