Curtulenn is a town in the Kingdom of Nyrond located on the Franz River.
Geography
Curtulenn is located on the southern bank of the upper Franz River, and on major trade routes from Mowbrenn and Woodwych to Trigol. The town sits like a "twin" town to Trigol on the other side of the Franz River in the County of Urnst.[1]
History
The great ferry boats of Curtulenn have historically carried trade between Trigol and both Woodwych and Mowbrenn. In Spring 585 CY trade remained good as Sir Lellend DeFreiden, the local landholder, refused to raise additional taxes demanded by King Archbold III. He threw the local bailiff thrown in jail, and challenged the King to remove him. Locals united in support and organized local militias to defend the town under popular martial law. Representatives of the King were driven off. However, this distracted from problems in the town, with rogues, thieves, cheats, and a few men from the Bandit Kingdoms causing trouble, including bandits posing as mercenaries who were quite willing to betray employers.[1]
People
Population
In Spring 585 CY the town had a population of 4,000.[2] By 591 CY it had grown to 5,200.[3]
The people of Curtulenn are determined, self-reliant, individualistic, and in 585 CY defiant.[1]
Demographics
The usual races of Nyrond would be expected to be found here, being humans (with an Oeridian dominance, and Suel present, as ethnic background), Olve (mainly sylvan with a small high elf presence), Halfling (stout), Dwarf, Gnome, half-elf and half-orc.[3]
Nyrond generally is lawful neutral in alignment, with lawful good, neutral good, chaotic good, and neutral also prevalent.[3]
