Greyhawk Settlement
Prymp
General information
Realm:Ahlissa
Demographics
Population:16,300

Prymp is a fairly large city on the northern coast of Ahlissa, formerly the South Province of the Great Kingdom. It is a home to a large naval fleet. The city's walls are solidly built and in good repair, but the rest of the city is a decrepit den of depravity. The city, at least under the Great Kingdom, was ruled by an military council, rather than a civilian government. [1]

History

The city existed long before Ahlissa broke off from the failing Great Kingdom after the Greyhawk Wars. While under the control of the Great Kingdom, is was a military city, run by The rular of South Province, Admiral Llarmen, commander of the vast fleet based in the city, and General Reynard, commander of the South Provinces armies. The city was heavily damaged by Nyrondese attacks during the Greyhawk Wars, especially early in 585 CY, when the city suffered a devastating raid, which left the scorch marks from fireballs flung by Nyrondese mages dotting the city for over a year afterward. After the raid, Admiral Llarnen opted to constantly keep half the fleet in port for defensive purposes. At the time, the Great Kingdom controlled fleet based in Prymp consisted of 22 cogs and coasters, seven galleys and five galleons.[1]

Geography

Prymp is such a valuable port because of it's location on Relmor Bay, which feeds out into the Azure Sea on the northern coast of the Principality of Ahlissa, which is part of the greater Kingdom of Ahlissa.

Cityscape

While the walls of the city are solidly built, the rest of the city is in frequent disrepair. The most notable feature of the city, however, is the series of underground ducts that were built to carry away high tidal waters. These were them linked with a number of secret passages created by the Assassins Guild and other nefarious actors to burial vaults and a series of natural limestone caverns existing beneath the city to form the undercity, a partially-mapped mess of passages that honey-comb out beneath the city, many of which are partly or fully flooded.

People

Population

The population of the city, as of 585 CY was 16,300 people, including a fully formed assassins guild. The citizenry is, or was as of 585 CY, defended by a number of mercenaries, most of whom are a black hearted lot, comprised of ex-salves, former pirates, and other untrustworthy and highly chaotic sorts who are easily swayed by money, and are only kept in check by the extreme lawfulness of the city's rulers.

Notable individuals

  • Admiral Llarmen-Fleet commander for the Great Kingdom and former ruler of the city
  • General Reynard-Amry commander for the Great Kingdom and former ruler of the city

The city is rife with cults of various sorts, the most notable of which are cults to Nerull, who are known to complete dark rituals in the city's squalid and neglected cemetery.

Rumors & legends

The undercity is a sourced for many rumors. Some say that the lower unexplored sections contain not only an interdicted nest of Kuo-toa, but also an underwater complex occupied by a lich and his swarm of sea-zombie-like undead.

One of the more credible rumors is the report of a sacred relic of Pholtus, a cloak that was sealed away by the last of a desperate preisthood chased into the undercity by asaasaains in the imploy of Ivid V. Said cloak was important enough to attract the attention of Mitrik who sent a group of adventurers in disguise to try and find it, though they never returned.
