In the ''[[Living Greyhawk]]'' campaign, Farenne featured in several adventures. She was also referred to in the "Nyrond Gazetteer" fan-created sourcebook. Farenne of Pholtus is a noble of the Kingdom of Nyrond.
Description
Appearance
Farenne is unmistakably of Oeridian-Suloise background, being fair skinned with light auburn hair and blue eyes. She is 5' 6" tall and described as often smiling. She was 30 years of age in Spring 585 CY.[1]
Personality and alignment
Farenne is of Lawful Good alignment. She is tolerant, wise, kindly, often smiling, and hospitable - enjoying visits by any other paladin or good bard. She is tolerant of all but intelligent and scheming evil, and stelly-willed when her mind is made up. She believes the people in her lands are much better off than others, and as a result seeks to increase her power and influence. She hears much of what happens on Relmor Bay, and is willing to share this with those she trusts to act in the service of lawful good.[2]
Religion
She is a follower of Pholtus in his Lawful Good aspect, and believes the followers of Pholtus in the Theocracy of the Pale (being a zealous variant in his Lawful Neutral aspect) to be heretics. She argues fiercely against any alliance with the Pale.[1]
She is unusual for a follower of Pholtus, believing a true follower of Pholtus should lead and inspire by the life they live. She lives humbly and in spartan quarters. She loathes the Valorous League of Blindness as heretics, and has previously driven them from her lands.[3]
Abilities
In Spring 585 CY she was a 10th level paladin (first edition). Her attributes were Str 17, Dex 17, Con 16, Wis 16, Cha 18, with 82 hit points.[1]

Equipment and possessions
She possessed a folding boat the size of a small caravel, which she uses to set out at night to frustrate smugglers and slavers operating on Fairwind Bay. Sshe also owns a bowl of commanding water elementals which her friend, the half-elven mage Schuster, uses to deal with pirates and slavers such that they avoid Fairwing Bay as a result.[3]
She wears plate mail +2 for battle.[4]

She opposed the pirates, smugglers and slavers operating on Relmor Bay.[3]
Allies and minions
She leads a garrison of 80 strongly loyal castle militia at Shining White. She is also aided by her friends residing there, a half-elven bard, a ranger from Wragby (who knows the local coastline better than anyone), and the half-elven mage Schuster.[3]
The aquatic elves of Fairwind Bay supply Farenne with information of what they observe at sea, and also scried by their priestess of Deep Sashelas who is said to know everything going on below the waves of Relmor Bay.[3]
History
She was presumably appointed to the rule of Shining White and surrounding lands including at least 25 miles of coastline by King Archbold III. However, after the Greyhawk Wars she was bitter to the king, who she felt understood nothing of the problems of ordinary people or the evils undermining Nyrond from within. She refused to pay tithes and taxes to Archbold, and worked at building alliances with other lawful good nobles and rulers in Nyrond. She had previously driven off followers of the Valorous League of Blindness from her lands.[3]
There was a reorganization of provincial administration under King Lynwerd I that commenced Needfest 1, 591 CY. It was not detailed whether Farenne and Shining White fell within the control of the Duchy of Korenflass or the Viscounty of the Eventide.[5]
