Reynard is a scion of House Naelax, though he spurns other members of his house, and a general in the army of Ivid V. He was stationed in South Province, being the de facto leader of Prymp by virtue of leading South Province's army.

Description

Appearance

General Reynard is 6' 8" with a powerful build. He has wavy brown hair, and dark brown eyes. He appears in his mid-30s, thanks to a unique homunculus. (See below: Minions)

Personality

Reynard is brutally evil and a rigid disciplinarian who constantly drills his army. He strikes fear into the hearts of most people he meets and is known for his infamous fixing stare.

Abilities

General Reynard is one of the greatest tacticians in all the Oerth.

Equipment and possessions

The General has a comprehensive collection of tomes on military history and strategy, including rare historical accounts of the Oeridian, Suloise and Baklunish civilizations.

In terms of war gear, the general has a vorpal bastard sword with a bone handle, which has the sharpness quality, and has the power to detect nearby enemies. Reynard also has black-lacquered plate mail that gives him a +4 AC bonus against all missiles and allows a save against an arrow of slaying. It also grants free action and grants a +4 on saving throws against illusions and phantasms.

Relationships

Reynard disliked Chelor because Chelor stopped him for overexerting himself in the Greyhawk Wars, but he is grateful to Chelor for one thing: Chelor stopped him from attending the Overking, and thus spared him from being turned into an undead.

Reynard looks much more favorably on Graf Reydrich, since Reydrich promised him a war against Onnwal or Idee within two years.

Allies and Minions

Reynard has a homunculus, which was created for him by Reydrich, the former archmage to Herzog Chelor.[1] It was created with fiendish aid, which is not normally a requirement for creation of a homunculus. If the diminutive beast is allowed to consume the life force of a sentient adult humanoid creature [note 1] once annually, Reynard doesn't age. For this reason, many think Reynard a vampire or demon himself.[1]

Notes

  1. The original text uses the outdated term "demihuman", defined in the second edition Player's Handbook (pp.11,20) as the non-human PC races—elves, dwarves, gnomes, and halflings.
