Uvot is the Touv god of Prosperity. His symbol is a depiction of fruit.
Description
Uvot is portrayed as a Touv child surrounded by fruits, grains, and crafted items, or as a giant Touv man carrying these things in his arms.
Relationships
Uvot is the creator and leader of the Touv pantheon, which also includes the gods Berna, Breeka, Damaran, Katay, Kundo, Meyanok, Nola, Vogan, and Xanag.
Realm
According to Sean K. Reynolds' "Scarlet Brotherhood FAQ," the Touv gods are spirits who dwell on Oerth itself rather than on other planes of existence. Uvot is the spirit of the bounty of the world.
Dogma
Uvot personifies the bounty of the land and the prosperity to be gained by using his gifts. He is the antithesis of destruction.
Worshippers
Clergy
Priests and shamans of Uvot teach medicine, bless marriage, and give advice on crops, finding water, hunting, and how best to use the resources available. Their advice is not always solicited by others, but it is usually correct. They may use atl-atls, clubs, daggers, hand axes, scythes, short bows, sickles, and staves, and wear any nonmetal armor. Their favored weapon is the scythe, with other preferred weapons being daggers, quarterstaves, and sickles. They wear fine animal skins and cloth garments.
Holy days
The first day of the week in the Touv calendar, Uday, is named for Uvot.
Myths and legends
The creation of the gods
Before the first "true people" walked the Oerth, the world was lonely and souless, though there were still green growing things, animals, and precious gifts of the earth. Then Uvot was born, rising as a great noise from the Oerth and all that was on it and in it.
When Uvot thanked the sun for blessing the land with its warmth, he awoke Nola, the goddess of the sun. When a gentle rain fell, Uvot thanked the storm for the gift of water, and so he named and shaped Vogan, the god of weather. When Uvot blessed Nola, she gave birth to Xanag, goddess of metals and beauty.
Creative origins
Uvot was created by Sean K. Reynolds.
