The art was pulled from Jeff Easley's cover of From the Ashes.  Though the cover art for the boxed set represents a theoretical character in Greyhawk, the name "Gh'alar" was only given on the trading card.  This has been a minor criticism of the series of trading cards, because they reused art.

History

Publishing history

Gh'alar originally appeared as one of the NPCs presented in the Trading Cards line on card number #9 of 11 in the GenCion 1992 Promo set.

The art was pulled from Jeff Easley's cover of From the Ashes. Though the cover art for the boxed set represents a theoretical character in Greyhawk, the name "Gh'alar" was only given on the trading card.

Trivia

Jeff Easley described this piece of art (originally on the cover of From the Ashes, and titled the same), on card #36 from his art trading card series:

"This was the only time I've ever painted an undead horse. It's easier than painting a live one, At least if you leave someting out, you can claim it fell off."
