Grey College (also called Greyhawk College or University of Greyhawk)[1] is an excellent institution of learning in the Free City of Greyhawk which offers classes and degrees in many fields, including alchemy, astrology and astronomy, architecture and engineering, healing, geography, economics and finance, the fine arts, accounting and mathematics, and history.
Description
"Though most of its buildings are situated east of the Processional near Garden Gate and along University Street, the college claims a half-dozen structures scattered throughout the district and an observatory outside the eastern wall (Area O9)."[1]
History
Originally part of a noble's estate, known as the Iolavai House, the college got its start when a hero, Truan Iolavari, purchased the estate and named the college for the Grey Savant. He turned over the manor house on the estate to the administrators of a small school, which formed the nucleus of what became Grey College.[1]
The college got staff and sages from the "Academy of Art and Science" which ceased to exist but had been in the Old City.[1]
Early on, the college offered arcane studies but stopped doing so after the University of Magical Arts became prominent.[1]
Members
Grey College has about 500 students each term. About three out of ten students are not from Greyhawk.[1]
