History
In Living Greyhawk
Tavish IV, the surviving son of Tavish III of the House of Rhola, became the king of Keoland in 453 CY on the battlefield of the Siege of Westkeep, immediately after the death of his father in battle. [4] Recognizing the precarious state of Keoland from the policies of his line, Tavish IV worked to reverse course, and recall the expeditionary forces from the frontiers and disbanded them. This freed men to return to homes from which they had been away fighting in wars for their entire lives. Tavish IV recognized the Yeomanry League in 460 CY, and established formal relations with the new independent realm. Unfortunately, these efforts came too late to prevent the realms of Celene and Ulek from severing official ties with Keoland.[4]
The nobles ruling the Pomarj took this opportunity to break their oaths to the Principality of Ulek and establish a new independent realm with its capital in Highport; the court at Niole Dra did nothing to protest this development. In 488 CY, a prematurely aged and broken Tavish IV died, leaving no descendants, and the Throne of the Lion passed on to an heir from the House of Neheli the following year.[4]
