Asperd Isle is the largest island in the Domain of the Sea Barons, and contains the capital of Asperdi, as well as the port of Ironport. Anyone sailing into the Island from the former Great Kingdom, by unofficial understanding, sails into Ironport. Baron Basmajian maintains a small fleet on the island, consisting of twelve coasters, as well as fishing fleet consisting of fifteen vessels.
Description
The island is quite large and contains over half the population of the Sea Barons. That being said, very few people visit the island, since to do so requires being known to the Naval Phalanx, a personal invitation from the baron himself or a liegeman therein, or a visiting permit, which requires whoever holds it to not only pay 150 gold, but also submit to a tattoo of an iguana's head on the left forearm.
History
The Baron of the Island has acted as the Lord High Admiral and leader of the Dominion of the Sea Barons ever since its founding, due to the fact that Baron Asperd, after whom the island itself and island chain of which it is a part are named, won the naval battle.
Geography
The island is the northernmost island in the island chain, right off the coast of Winetha.
Resources
The main export Asperd Isle is noted for, apart from the foodstuffs the entire island chain is noted for, is the resinous tar, which has many uses for builders and alchemists.
Rumors & legends
The Island is home to Tar Hill, which is surrounded by rumors of dark magic.
