Bitterness is the only bulding that was left in the center of Coldwood when the City of Summer Stars dissappeared from Oerth after its tragedy. It is the keep of Prince Darnakurian. The elves use a different name for Bitterness in the elven language—a word with a more intense double meaning than in the Common tongue. It refers both to the dreadful tragedy of the prince, and also to the intensely bitter chill which gives the Coldwood its name.
No living man has ever entered Bitterness. Within it, Darnakurian's form is still alive—in some sense.
