Borneven is a city in the north of the Kingdom of Nyrond.
Geography
Borneven is the major city of the northern lands of Nyrond, located at the junction of a number of roads.[1]
History
In Spring 585 CY the city's inhabitants lived well enough for the tough times due to trade with the Gamboge Forest which was vital to the economy. The local landholder Viscount Larapel Klendern had little option but to follow royal edicts due to the number of troops passing through regularly. Most locals used barter as a means of exchange to avoid currency being taken in tax, leading to becoming accomplished in black market dealings and thieves prospering there. The king's bailiff concentrated on protecting supply lines from the Gamboge rather than tax collection, meaning the locals were not as oppressed as other parts of Nyrond.[1]
