Vitrioli (singular: vitriolus) are mysterious natives of the Paraelemental Plane of Ooze.
Ecology
Environment
Vitrioli are native to the Paraelemental Plane of Ooze. They can be summoned to the Material Plane by means of a magical alchemical substance known as vitrioliquid. Vitrioliquid can be created by a cleric by combining three different types of acid, swamp water, and graveyard dust in the proper quantities, and then casting light, flame strike, animate object, command, implore, and quest, in that order. Some knowledge of the Plane of Ooze is required, and the secrets of creating vitrioliquid are held by the Cult of the Black Flame.
Typical physical characteristics
On the Prime Material Plane, vitrioli resemble small (about three foot tall), faceless humanoids made of sand, glowing with a dim green light. Their appearance on their native plane may be different, however.
Vitrioli are highly combustable. Upon any sharp impact with a vitriolus, either striking it or being stuck by it, it explodes in a cloud of acid and flame. They are themselves immune to both fire and acid.
Alignment
Vitrioli are considered neutral with chaotic tendencies, although they are unintelligent.
