Xaene
Xaene was the court wizard of Ivid V, Overking of The Great Kingdom though he disappeared some time before the Invasion of Nyrond in 582 CY, leaving the spot open for the wizard Karoolk. Before disappearing, he was responsible for the foul magics behind the creation of The Fiend Knights, Ivid V personal shock troops. He was also rumored to be the last known mage who fully understood the working of the Infernal Machine of Lum the Mad.
In the Chambers of Antiquities beneath Maure Castle, Xaene is mentioned in correspondence between Vex of Maure and the mysterious Uncle. "Perhaps this Xaene," wrote Vex, "who you foresee coming from another dimension soon, should be eliminated in advance lest he find the pattern and counterfeit our claims. I would gladly travel the Current to complete the deed."
