Captain Cheer Eo

Captain Cheer Eo was a bee-like creature who was employed as a jailer on the seventh level of one incarnation of Castle Greyhawk. Much of his time was spent teasing a pair of captured werebears with a handful of almonds and a pot of honey he kept just out of their reach.

The character only appeared in the apocryphal Castle Greyhawk joke module.

Creative Origins

Captain Cheer Eo is a double parody, both of the bee mascot for General Mills' "Honey-Nut Cheerios" breakfast cereal and of singer Michael Jackson, who played the character "Captain Eo" in the now-defunct 3D movie attraction at Disneyland of the same name, which had opened two years previous to the module's publishing to heavy publicity.

Other bee creatures on the same level parody the Blues Brothers (due to John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd growing the act out of a similar musical act called "The Killer Bees" on SNL) and the radio and TV character "The Green Hornet."
