Template:Greyhawk source "Evil Unearthed" is a 3rd Edition adventure appearing in Dungeon #82 (September/October, 2000). The adventure was written by Ed Stark, and appeared in Dungeon's first issue supporting the 3rd Edition rules. The adventure also contains suggestions for linking it to "Playing with Fire" another adventure in the same issue.

Setting

"Evil Unearthed" takes place in and around Brookhollow, a hamlet on the Slipper River. Other important locations in the adventure include a nearby forest known as the Gnollwood, a barren region named the Waste, and Castle Overlook, a ruined fortress. The use of the name "Castle Overlook" is one of the facts which make this adventure apocryphal. That name is also used to refer to the citadel at Pellak, the capitol of Bissel, which obviously is not in ruins, at all. It can only be concluded, then, there are two places which share the same moniker. Confusing the matter further, the capitol is also referred to in some sources as "Castle Oversight".

Though "Evil Unearthed" contains references to Heironeous and Hextor, and the introduction states that it is set in Greyhawk, no other Greyhawk references are found. Furthermore, no information is given on the exact location of Brookhollow and other setting elements within the Flanaess. It is likely that the few Greyhawk references found in "Evil Unearthed" are merely due to Greyhawk's role as the "default setting" in early 3rd Edition.
