King Gnarly Gnelly is the ruler of a svirfneblin kingdom beneath the Crystalmist Mountains. The source, The Book of Wondrous Inventions, actually says Crystalmist Mountain, implying that is the name of the mountain that he lives beneath, and not just the range the mountain is located in.
Under the instructions of Gnarly Gnelly, the svirfneblin built a device known as the Animated Money Changing Machine, a metal plate in a dungeon corridor that offers, through a magic mouth spell, to change cumbersome coins for easy-to-carry gems. Unfortunately, this is a scam: the "gems" are ordinary stones with permanent illusions cast on them. The device also spits out a forged receipt, ostensibly signed by an official from the Bank of Greyhawk.
