Herzog Akitrom, also known as "Herzog Akitrom the Merely Worried," was, debatably, lord and master of Castle Greyhawk for a period in the 570s-580s CY. Akitrom tried to turn the ruins of the castle into a tourist attraction with little success (particularly after the failure of "Herzog's Fireball Fun in the Forest," a promotion meant to attract trigger-happy mages, but ending up merely enraging a circle of local druids). Akitrom had also established high-class lodgings for adventurers who might wish accommodation while delving the dungeons of the castle.

Akitrom lived in the castle with his daughter, the Princess Risotta, and hosted many foreign diplomats (as part of his scheme to develop the property as a tourist destination), though their tenure as the owners of the property soon came to an abrupt and undisclosed end.

Herzog Akitrom first appeared in Castle Greyhawk, and was later dealt with in Greyhawk, Gem of the Flanaess.

With the explicit admission in Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins that the events in Castle Greyhawk never actually occurred, the canon status of Herzog Akitrom is shaky. He was not mentioned in Greyhawk Ruins or Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk, the last two modules to officially deal with Castle Greyhawk in any substantial fashion.

Name

From the context, it's unclear whether Herzog is meant to be Akitrom's title (in German, "Herzog" means "Duke", and at times he is referred to as the Herzog, implying a title) or his proper first name (as in "Herzog's Fireball Fun").
