Verin Talnith is a noble of the Kingdom of Nyrond.
Description
Verin Talnith was a 4th level ranger (3rd edition) in 591 CY, and was Neutral in alignment. She was appointed as Baroness of the Barony of Woodwych in the provincial reforms by King Lynwerd that commenced in 591 CY.[1] She was noted to appear to be as ruthless as her predecessor, Baron Bastrayne of Woodwych,[2] who had fled in 586 CY taking embezzled taxes and leaving significant problems in the area.[3]
In Spring 591 CY the Royal Mail Service and the Baroness of Woodwych offered a reward of 1,000 gold nobles for the capture of the bandit leader "Crippled Max" for crimes against members of the Service in the area of Adrean's Landing in the Barony.[4]
In Living Greyhawk
Verin Talnith featured in the Living Greyhawk campaign for the Nyrond region.
She was indicated in the Nyrond region Gazetteer as belonging to House Oberend, and being a powerful southern noble. King Lynwerd appointed her after Batsrayne disappeared, with unprecedented autonomy to the province given the problems faced. She immediately exiled a number of lesser nobles exiled, and sacked most of the former corrupt Baronial Guard. The Celadon Forest and remained in near-revolt with Nyrond troops not entering it. Matters were slowly returning to normal, but the province's economy and tax revenues suffered as a result. Her assurances of being no threat to the forest were viewed warily given the need to raise tax revenue and income as well as her proposed construction projects which would require a great deal of wood.[5]
