Drowned Forest
The Drowned Forest borders the Hool Marshes. It used to be a verdant region, but the marsh began to encroach on the area. The forest became a more foreboding place as the water levels rose. Monsters, such as shambling mounds and blights appeared as the rising water rotted the vegetation away. Eventually, strange fungus and mushrooms grew. The Drowned Forest may be the most dangerous location in Salimnor. While the trees are still standing, their foliage has long since rotted away, leaving the trees all but dead. Mushrooms and other fungi fill the air with spores, blotting out the sun, which allows unnatural growth to flourish.
