Activities

When the Falcon attacked the Free City, Eritai worked steadfastly with those who were trying to stop her, like Talasek Thraydin and Mizaab Zalen.[4][5][6]

Relationships

Eritai is very close to, and allied with, fellow Oligarchs Tigran Gellner and Sir Gavin Ambus.[1]

History

Elliman Neshir, the former head of the Temple of St. Cuthbert, took Eritai in as an orphan at the age of ten, in about YEAR CY.

Though Elliman had "remained a bachelor, he had found a “family” (of sorts) to comfort him in his advanced years. A young girl, only about ten years old, had arrived at the temple one day in search of shelter. She ... offered her services as a cleaning girl in exchange for a home and a future with the church. She and Elliman were drawn to one another almost immediately and became their own small family She and Elliman remained close until Elliman’s death eight years later."[7]

Service as a Director

Incredibly early on, Eritai made clear her interest in being on the Directorate.[8] Since the church of St. Cuthbert was known for supporting the Nightwatchmen, she leveraged increased sponsorship for them, and their popularity with the citizens of the city, in order to manage to receive an appointment to the Oligarchy.[8]

"A member of the Oligarchy for 14 years, Eritai Kaan-Ipzirel (female cleric 14 St. Cuthbert, LN) ... made herself Nerof’s chief opponent. She is the matriarch of St. Cuthbert in the city, and has immense support from the common people as well as from the law and military of the city. ... She would love nothing more than to clean up the government of the city, though it is unlikely Nerof will give her the chance. Eritai is 51 years old and has been divorced five times. Many bookmakers take bets on whether she will be divorced again before Nerof manages to get her off the Oligarchy."[1]

Resigning from the Directing Oligarchy

".. at the council meeting following Growfest [598 CY]. Eritai Kaan-Ipzirel, High Priestess of St. Cuthbert [and] massive champion of the masses... resigned from the Oligarchy, claiming that she no longer had a role to play on [the] executive council. Vague accusations of corruption laced her speech, which is unusual in the Free City, where corruption is overt, expected, and budgeted. Eritai has vowed to continue to annoy our distinguished Lord Mayor Nerof Gasgal from the pulpit and to act as the voice of the common man whether he likes it or not. The Oligarchy gave Eritai’s still-warm chair... to Silas Steamgem, Guildmaster of the Moneylenders and Pawnbrokers, gnome, and blatant Nerof flunky. ... Other Oligarchs were less thrilled with their new half-sized colleague. Tigran Gellner, Captain-General of the City Watch [and] Pholtan, was particularly disappointed. After the vote to add the moneylender, he said, “Silas will be a real light-weight on the council. There is no way he can fill Eritai’s shoes."[9]

When the populace found out about Eritai leaving the Difectorate, which was characterized as a "dismissal"[10] rather than resigning, there were "numerous protests throughout the city"[10] which the Watch were unable to quell for quite some time.
